A bit about myself
All my life, I’ve hungered for the means to exercise my creative spirit, daydreaming of a future where I would certainly grow up to simultaneously become a world famous musician and the greatest movie director of all time. 8-year old me planned out every important detail: the name of every album I would release, how many songs they would each have, exactly how long my hiatus between albums would be, and a long list of Oscar-worthy movie ideas to pursue (mostly extremely original super hero concepts or Star Wars spin-offs). But alas, I lacked the tools to express myself, resorting to drawing page-long comics, writing lyrics to the music in my head, or building cosplay armor out of construction paper.
Entering my teen years, I came to learn that my uncle would produce music in his spare time, using a software called “Fruity Loops” which he graciously installed for me on our family computer. A funny name for an app, but for the first time, I got a glimpse of what it was like to use legitimate robust tools to carry out my creative visions. And with that, I wrote, composed, and recorded my own music for the next 14 years of my life, experimenting in a variety of genres from Dubstep to Metal to Pop to Hip Hop.
Meanwhile, I gained access to even more creative tools, gradually building up skills in photography, digital compositing, and video production/editing. I used these new tools and skills to produce cover art, Youtube videos, and eventually my very first music video. Soon after, I began to branch out and direct and edit videos for some of the most esteemed regional artists in the St Louis music scene including Discrepancies, Daemon, and Aetherwave. With a building confidence and passion in video, I decided to step away from my music to instead pursue a career in the film industry. I moved out of the Midwest all the way to Los Angeles with my fiancé and our teenage daughter and focused my efforts on growing as an editor, diving deeper into NLE software, learning advanced color grading techniques, and working on freelance editing gigs and personal/spec projects.
Outside of my work and family, you’ll usually find me seeking inspiration, indulging in the creative works of others. I’m a big fan of movies and narrative driven video games, especially in the Sci Fi and Horror genres (extra bonus points for both in one). Some of my favorite films include Ex Machina, The Cabin in the Woods, and Mad Max: Fury Road while recent video games to suck me in have included Cyberpunk 2077, DOOM and God of War. And of course, don’t get me started on the Star Wars franchise!
I am currently directing my efforts towards editing move trailers, featuring my work here on my website to demonstrate my expertise. If you resonate with my work, I'd love to connect and collaborate! Check out my “Work” page to see examples and feel free to reach out using the form below!
